A Poll

Sorry I've neglected my blog for a bit, but I'm just feeling like no one is reading it anyway.

I have to ask you this question - please respond in the comment section so we can take a poll of sorts.

You are at lunch with a group friends, and you are all celebrating someone's birthday. Each person gets their own meal, so it's not a buffet type where everyone shares everything. There is a large disparity in the prices of dishes ordered. Do you split the bill evenly among all attendees, minus the Birthday Person? Or do you split it by exactly who orders what, and everyone adds a bit for the Birthday Person's meal? Please let me know your answer, so I can judge if I'm in the minority on this one. Thanks!

  • You are so funny! I would split the Bday person up equally, and everyone else pay for what they ordered. So there!

  • Yes--pay for your own, and then add extra for the b-day person.

  • i actually got caught out on this once - went to my friend's birthday with my boyfriend and he and i shared one meal (which was vegetarian - so cost less anyhow) & when the bill came they split the bill up equally and said we had to pay $40 each. well. we didn't have $40 each (i thought we were going out for pizza and pasta, oops)! so we had the moment of 'uhh, actually no, we only had one meal thing' but it was stressful and stupid. pay for your meal, and split the birthday person equally!
